Crafting products people actually want to use.
Tomás Milgron
Senior Design Engineer
I started in editorial design in Buenos Aires and ended up building products in Barcelona. Nine years of closing the gap between design and engineering, owning both sides of the work instead of handing off between them. I design systems and build them: Figma token architecture to production-ready Vue and React interfaces. Increasingly, my work focuses on building products based on human-AI collaboration.
Selected Work

Anansi
First Design & Frontend Hire at an Insurtech Startup
Joined as first design and frontend hire at an insurtech that pivoted multiple times, from a Shopify plugin for small merchants to an enterprise platform for 3PLs. Proposed and led the full consolidation: migrated a fragmented landscape (Django Admin + Vue 3) into a unified Next.js product using a Backend For Frontend architecture. Redesigned the claims creation flow from 14 steps to 5 clicks. Led early AI adoption: defined where AI should and shouldn't enter the product, and integrated LLM APIs accordingly.

COLAB sessions
Human-AI Design Workshops
A four-step framework for deciding what to delegate to AI and what to preserve as human gesture. Developed in partnership with Vercel's v0 team and delivered at IED Barcelona.

Tend
Pet Health Records for Adopted Animals
A WhatsApp-first health record that shelters give to adopters on day one, so every adopted pet starts with a history, not a blank page.

Teaching
IED Barcelona
Coordinating the 2D Prototyping & AI Lab. Teaching design students how to decide what to delegate to AI and what to keep as their own judgment. Tools like v0 and Claude are part of the workflow, but the harder work is deciding when to use them and when not to.
About
Senior Design Engineer with 9 years closing the gap between design and production code. I design systems and build them: Figma token architecture to production-ready Vue and React interfaces, with the Backend For Frontend layer that most teams leave as an afterthought. I lead the user research that defines what gets built.
At Anansi I joined as first design and frontend hire, inherited two disconnected legacy apps, and left with a unified Next.js product, a Tailwind-based design system, and a BFF architecture I proposed from day one. At IED Barcelona I teach AI-augmented design workflows. At Taller Oliva I research a more specific question: which parts of the design and operation of a product resist formalization and must remain human gesture, and which parts can be delegated to systems without loss.
The best products come from people who can see the whole picture: from the token in Figma to the API contract in the backend, and increasingly, from what the system does autonomously to what the human still has to decide. That's what design engineering means to me now.
